Defensive walls
Defensive walls

Due to its location between the kingdoms of Castile and León, Kingdom of Aragon and Kingdom of Navarre, Vitoria-Gasteiz was a desired place for all adjacent regions.
For this reason, a walled enclosure was made that defended the town from future invasions.

During the following centuries, the walls remained hidden among the buildings of the historic center until future archaeological investigations found the walls of the city.

Currently, approximately half the volume of the wall is preserved and it is possible to arrange guided tours to see the recovered areas.
