The Green Belt of Vitoria is a set of parks on the outskirts of the city with high ecological and landscape value. Created in the 90s, it was made with the purpose of taking care of the environment, the environmental view and bringing people closer to a more sustainable and ecological life.
The enclosure of the Green Belt surrounds the entire city and the parks are connected to each other, So, thanks to this ring that forms, it is very possible that you will see wild animals on your walk through the parks: deer, squirrels, storks and frogs.
In 2000, this ecological project was selected by the UN among the 100 best ecological actions in the world with more than 640 hectares of green area.
